The Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine provides a full cardio workout that is smooth and easy on the joints, which really makes it an excellent machine for those people that have had any hip or knee problems. It does a very good job of recreating the normal jogging stride.

Sole E55 (5 Stars)

Ellipticals are key pieces of equipment for physical fitness and can be found in many home gyms or just in the family room in front of the television for spontaneous indoor exercise. They tone the body, burn calories, and build cardio vasuclar health. In general, they give a good all round workout and are great for days when the weather or long work hours keep you inside.

If they are poorly made, it doesn’t feel good to use them, and then they probably just sit and gather dust. That won’t be of any use to your fitness plan. So you want to spend enough to get a good unit, but you want it to be affordable and to receive quality for your money. A truly wonderful option is the E55 put out by Sole Fitness.

Weslo Momentum (3 Stars)

The Weslo Momentum Elliptical machine is a solid, low price option, yet effective elliptical machine. You can work just about every muscle in your body, and obviously, like most elliptical machines you can adjust the resistance to the specific kind of workout you want.

It also does a good job of keeping track of the calories that you are burning, the distance you traveled and, naturally the speed you are running.

The Weslo momentum series is fairly inexpensive compared to most other elliptical machines that are on the market today. So you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to start working on your cardio from home.

Sole E35 (4 Stars)

The Sole E35 elliptical trainer is the great solution for anyone looking for an elliptical trainer to use at home while staying on a tight budget. The Sole E35 is high on many experts’ recommendation lists in the $1000 – $1500 range for good many good reasons, including the length of the warranty.

When an established company puts a long warranty on a product, you know that it’s going to last a lot longer than the warranty period. No company wants to make costly repairs that erode the profit margin.

With this is mind, the Sole E35’s warranty includes a lifetime frame, 5 years of parts and 2 years of labor.

Eclipse 1100 HR (3 Stars)

The company responsible for Tony Little Gazelle proudly created the Eclipse 1100 HR elliptical trainer. I usually do not embrace giving my perspective of inexpensive equipment. However, due to the “all the rage” appeal that continues to grow over the Eclipse 1100, I concluded that the pros and cons of this device should be evaluated.

The obvious advantage of the Eclipse 1100 HR elliptical trainer is the reasonable cost. Some individuals who desire to lose weight and stay fit are short of finances and are not able to buy a top quality exercise machine.

Spending so much money on a machine that will perhaps end up tucked away in the garage behind stacks of boxes is a financial risk no individual on a tight budget wants to make.

Sole E95 (5 Stars)

The Sole E95 elliptical machine is the best value we have seen in the elliptical market lately. The E95 is constructed well from high quality materials and will not give you the mechanical problems poorly made machines can experience.

The rear rails on the E95 stabilize the machine and help keep young childrens’ fingers out of the crevices in the machine. The machine also features a twenty inch stride that is more comfortable for taller users than shorter stride lengths. The machine can support up to 400 pounds.

The warranty, solid construction, and available in-home service make this machine a great investment. The machine also gives you enough resistance to challenge you, even as you get in better and better shape.

Reebok Ellipticals (4 Stars)

Reebok elliptical machines have various strengths and weaknesses depending on your fitness needs but still good for a home gym. They are readily available online and also in departmental stores.

You can be assured of good quality since they are manufactured by Icon Health and Fitness a long time producer of other well-known brands such as proform, weslo, healthrider and image. This made Reebok ellipticals more popular with the buyers. These days however there are other better and more sophisticated crosstrainers available in the market.

Smooth CE 7.4 (4 Stars)

Once upon a time, if you were willing to spend some money because you were looking for a good quality elliptical trainer, you could have chosen the Smooth CE, made by the German manufacturer, Kettler.

It has a smooth ride and a 48 pound flywheel and is very well constructed. There did used to be a few lower priced Smooth models to choose from for those on a budget, but they were discontinued along the way for various reasons.

You may remember the ME and PE. Smooth does still make other pieces of equipment, too, such as treadmills and home gyms.
