Have you recently caught yourself dwelling on your flabby arms, wishing you could wear sleeveless shirts like you used to? Then you’re one of the many, many women who finds herself unhappy and embarrassed with their loose, flabby and jiggly arms?
Don’t worry – you’re most definitely not alone. The fat accumulating in your arms is from gaining too much weight – not necessarily in their arms, just overall body fat. As women age, they tend to slowly gain weight. This weight accumulates all over the body, including their arms.
The most efficient way to rid yourself of the sag and flab in your arms is to reduce your body fat. As you lose weight throughout your body, you will burn the fat in your arms as well. However, it is not only about burning the fat – in order to get your arms looking the way you want them to, you will need to do arm exercises to rejuvenate the muscles, giving your arms the leaner, fitter look you desire.
Working to build the muscles in your arm will also help burn the fat in your arms. It is important, though, to not just try to lose fat in your arms – this is not effective. In order to effectively lose weight and tone your arms, you must perform full-body workouts. The body is not made to burn isolated collections of fat; it must burn fat throughout the body at the same relative rate.
This full body routine must include both strengthening exercises, which primarily help give you a leaner look, and cardiovascular exercises, which burn fat. The combination of these two types of exercise will tone your arms quickly. There is one more important part of the process that must be adhered to, as it can be just as important as exercise – you must change your nutritional intake in order to boost your metabolism.
Once you do this, your body will burn fat throughout the day at a much faster rate. If you consistently exercise and eat well, you will effectively increase your metabolism in a matter of days. Pay attention to what you eat, as eating the right foods can prevent cravings, suppress appetite (to prevent from overeating or eating out of boredom), provide additional energy, and, once again, speed up your metabolism.
Try to eat fewer sugars and starches – the two of these cause your body to release insulin, a hormone that makes your body store fat. Foods high in starch include potatoes, pasta, breads, rice, corn and peas. Eat carbohydrates high in fiber (steel cut oatmeal or sprouted whole grain bread) at the beginning of the day, to get your digestive system going the right way.
Avoid eating carbohydrates towards the end of the day (other than non-starchy vegetables and fruits), as these will cause your digestive system to store fat while you sleep. Following this diet will cause your body to quickly burn its fat stores – and you will lose weight.
Combining that with the aforementioned types of exercise will help you tone your arms, have more energy, burn more fat, and overall, feel more healthy. Before you know it, you will be wearing sleeveless shirts once again!
If want tone arms. Dumbbells are a must. Our highest recommended are the PowerBlock Dumbbells.
